A significant difference between this program and Medicaid programs is that in this program, as long as certain conditions are met, spouses can be paid as caregivers. Another interesting option that veterans can use to pay their caregivers is a program called Veteran Directed Care (VDC), formerly called Veterans Directed Home and Community Based Services (VD-HCBS).
